AKiTi or AKiTu is the Sumerian-Babylonian New Year.

April 1st marks the beginning of the new (solar) year.

The 1st of April marks the return of the Sun and the renewal of life on earth.

Marduk, the usurper, was never one of the original Anunnaki (Followers of An/Anu).

However, Marduk will be remembered for leaving his keys to the Gates.
